Memoirs of the Dead

I think about when I die all of the places and people I will miss, certain occasions that had an impact on my life. My mind takes me back to memories, some very vivid, and others foggy and less clear. If you had the opportunity on your last minute of life, to go back and visit one last memory, where would your mind take you? Would it be a good memory, or maybe a memory of pain and sorrow.
In this series of photos I want the viewer to feel as though they are witnessing this persons last memories, almost as if the viewer was traveling with this person as she goes back in her mind and picks out these last thoughts and memories. As she revisits these memories she nears the end of her time; the light begins to engulf her.
Death is a natural part of life. For the transition part of this series I wanted to incorporate some sort of nature into it. I did this by having tree like limbs slowly take over the picture, creeping up from the shadows. These limbs continue to grow until there is nothing left of the picture. However on the last one I chose to make these limbs lighter and have more of a flow to them. The reason for this is because the last photo represents the ominous light at the end of the tunnel. I don't believe the final moments of life will be dark and stressful, I see it more as a relief, a weight lifted off your shoulders.
